The Garden House
The Garden House is in The Narth, which is a small village outside Monmouth. It's a detached lodge in our garden, looking out over fields. There are a couple of horses in the next field. You get your own patio, and the big lawn out the front is shared with us, but we're not out there much.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one double and one with a single bed. There's also a sofa bed in the living room if you need it. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's modern and clean. The bathroom is a wet room on the ground floor, which is handy. The parking is right next to the lodge.
There's a summerhouse in the garden with chairs. It gets the evening sun. You're welcome to use the BBQ.
The village itself is quiet. The nearest shop, pub, or restaurant is in Monmouth, about six miles away. Monmouth has the lot, really. A couple of supermarkets, plenty of places to eat, and things like the castle. You can walk down from here to the River Wye through the valley.
Tintern Abbey is about a 15 minute drive. It's impressive. Goodrich Castle is about the same distance the other way. The Forest of Dean is a 20-25 minute drive. For that, the Forest of Dean website is useful for maps and trails. Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves are over there too.
For the area, the National Trust Wye Valley site and Visit Wye Valley are good for planning.
Inside, it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and the bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. We also have another property, Red Lodge, next door if you're a larger group.
