Hopewell Barn is near Hewelsfield Common, in the Forest of Dean. It's detached, set back from the lane with open fields around it. The views over the Wye Valley are good, especially from the first floor.
It sleeps five. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is useful. It's got a 4 Star rating. The conversion was done well, so it's comfortable but not overly fussy. There's underfloor heating downstairs and a wood burner in the living room.
The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. We allow two. There are two paved areas outside with a BBQ.
It's very quiet here. You'll hear birds, not traffic. A public footpath runs right past the property, so you can step straight onto the Wye Valley Walk or head up towards Offa's Dyke. For a proper walk, you can drive to Beacon Hill or park at Mallards Pike.
Tintern Abbey is about ten minutes away by car. It's worth seeing. Tintern Abbey. Chepstow Castle is in the other direction, maybe a fifteen minute drive. Chepstow Castle.
If you've got children, Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves are within half an hour. Symonds Yat is popular for watching peregrine falcons. For a day out, you could go to Monmouth or Abergavenny. Both have decent shops and cafes.
In the house you'll find a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and an electric vehicle charger. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.
The nearest shop and a pub are in St Briavels, about two miles away. Another good pub, the Boat at Redbrook, is a bit further, maybe a twenty minute walk down through the woods.
