The Old Granary

The Old Granary is here on the farm in Hewelsfield. It's one of three places we've done up. It's a converted stone barn, so you get the thick walls and the original stonework around the front door.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, all doubles, and two bathrooms. They're downstairs. The main living space is upstairs, which is a bit different. You go up to the kitchen and living area. Then there's another floor above that with a kids' play area. It's got a TV, a PlayStation 2, and some beanbags. It's a useful space if you've got children.

It's a working farm, so there are animals around. You'll see sheep and cattle in the fields. The garden is yours to use. There's parking right outside.

You're quite tucked away here. The nearest shop is about a mile and a half. The closest pub is two miles. It's quiet.

For things to do, you're right on the edge of the Forest of Dean. Good for walking and cycling. Chepstow with its castle is about a fifteen minute drive. Monmouth and Abergavenny are within half an hour. The Wye Valley is right there for canoeing or just driving through. Useful links if you're planning: Forest of Dean District Council and National Trust Wales.

Facilities: it's got a wood burner, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's a stairgate at the bottom of the stairs. The stairs are typical for an old building, so they're a bit steeper than in a modern house.

It's attached to The Chicken Coop next door. There's a connecting door inside, which can be handy for bigger groups booking both.
