White Hill Farm Cottage is on our working farm in Wonastow. It's a detached stone place, sleeps six, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's in very good order.
The main thing is the view. You look out from the back over fields and hills towards the Brecon Beacons. You can see Pen-y-Fan on a clear day. The terrace gets the sun all afternoon. The garden was designed by a Chelsea gold medal winner, so it attracts a lot of birds and butterflies.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There are oak beams and cills, the oak came from our own trees. The stairs are standard, not too steep. Two of the bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the ground floor, which some people find useful.
You're on a farm, so you'll see sheep and hear our dogs. Footpaths lead straight from the door into the woods. We see deer and badgers quite often.
For shops, pubs, and places to eat, you need to go into Monmouth. That's about two miles. There's fishing about a mile and a half away, and a golf course two and a half miles.
You're well placed for the area. The Brecon Beacons National Park is about half an hour north for walking. The Forest of Dean is similar distance east. Hay-on-Wye, for the bookshops, is about 40 minutes drive. Cardiff, for a city day, is less than an hour south. You can find more about the area on Visit Wales.
Facilities: everything's included, bedding, towels, electricity. There's WiFi, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Parking for a couple of cars right outside. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
