Salt House is on the private drive up to Berkeley Castle. It’s a big Georgian place, built in the 1700s. Sleeps fourteen. Seven bedrooms, five bathrooms. It’s been done up, so it’s comfortable, but it's still an old house. Floors aren't all level. The stairs to the top floor are a proper staircase, quite steep.
It’s detached. Big open kitchen and dining area. You can all fit around the table. The main living room is through there.
You’re at the edge of the town. It’s quiet. There’s parking. The garden is yours. You can take two dogs, but the garden isn’t fully enclosed, just so you know.
Berkeley itself has a shop, a couple of pubs. The castle’s right there. Dr Jenner’s House, where smallpox vaccination started, is in the town. Cattle Country farm park is nearby if you’ve got kids.
You’re on the edge of the Cotswolds. Stroud’s about twenty minutes by car. Good for the market and odd shops. Cirencester is maybe forty minutes. Gloucester and Bristol are both under half an hour’s drive. The National Trust page for Berkeley Castle has visiting information.
For walking, the Cotswold Way starts a few miles away. You can get to the Severn Estuary footpaths in no time.
It’s got parking, WiFi, all bedding and towels, and the utilities are included. If you need even more space, you can rent the house next door, Brook House, as well.
