Oak Tree Cottage

Oak Tree Cottage is in Ruardean Woodside, up above the woods in the Forest of Dean. It's detached, so no one next door. The garden is a good size, gets the sun, and is fully enclosed. The views from the bedrooms are good, looking out over the countryside.

The cottage sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-kept. The stairs are fairly typical for a cottage, so a bit steeper than a modern house.

You get a woodburning stove for the colder months. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking. We also provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. At Christmas, we put up decorations and a real tree.

There's a games room in the outbuilding with a pool table and table tennis. It's useful if the weather isn't great.

You can walk straight into the forest from the gate. For other things, the shop and a pub are about a mile away. The nearest supermarket is a Tesco in Cinderford, about an 11 minute drive.

For days out, you're right in the Forest of Dean. It's good for cycling, walking, and there's canoeing on the Wye. The Forest Hills Golf Course is about 8 minutes away by car. Monmouth and the Wye Valley are within half an hour. Gloucester, with the cathedral and docks, is also about 30 minutes.

Some useful links for planning: Forest of Dean District Council for local information, and the Wye Valley AONB site.
