River Wye View Cottage is in Symonds Yat West. It’s a two bedroom cottage that sleeps three, with one bathroom. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and clean but it’s not a show home. You get the place to yourselves.
The main thing is the view. You look right out over the River Wye from the front. It’s a proper river view, not just a glimpse. There’s a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. It’s got a dishwasher and a washing machine, bedding and towels are included, and there’s parking.
Symonds Yat Rock is the big attraction. It’s a five minute drive, or a longer walk, up to the viewpoint. You get a great view of the river bend from up there. People go to watch the peregrine falcons. You can walk down to the river itself from the cottage quite easily.
You can hire canoes and kayaks locally if you want to get on the water. There’s a pub within walking distance which does food.
For a day out, you can drive to the Forest of Dean, it’s about twenty minutes. Good for walking and cycling. The town of Ross-on-Wye is about fifteen minutes by car for bigger shops. Hereford is maybe half an hour if you need a city.
