Doward Farm

Doward Farm is a big seven-bedroom farmhouse that sleeps sixteen. It's on the edge of the Wye Valley, down a private lane on our working farm. The views are over fields and the orchard at the front. It's detached, so no one else around.

It's a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and functional rather than luxurious. It's an old house, so expect the usual things like uneven floors and some low beams. The stairs are fairly typical for a farmhouse. There are four bathrooms, which helps with a group that size.

You can bring up to three dogs. The garden and orchard are for you to use. There's parking right there.

It's a very quiet spot. The nearest proper village is Whitchurch, about a mile away. They've got a useful local shop and a cafe. Monmouth is about six miles. That's where you'll find supermarkets, a few restaurants, and an old-fashioned cinema. There are a couple of golf courses nearby too.

You're right on the edge of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Good walking starts almost from the door. The Forest of Dean is about a fifteen-minute drive for cycling or more walking. Monmouth has a castle, and the ruins of Goodrich Castle are about twenty minutes by car.

For facilities, you've got the basics covered: WiFi, TV, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a woodburning stove for the cooler evenings. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them.

If you're planning walks or days out, these sites are useful: Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Forest of Dean. For local history, English Heritage at Goodrich Castle has all the details.
