Holly Cottage is in Ellwood, in the Forest of Dean. It’s detached, so you won’t have neighbours through the walls. You get a decent enclosed garden. It’s mainly lawn, with a couple of patio areas.
The house sleeps five. There are three bedrooms – two doubles and one with bunk beds. One bathroom, which has a bath with a shower over it. There’s a separate utility room outside with a washing machine, sinks, and another toilet. It’s got a 5 Star rating, which means the fixtures and fittings are all in good order.
The main living area is open plan, kitchen at one end and sitting area at the other. There’s a wood burner in there. It gets the room properly warm. We ask that you don’t use candles or tea lights inside, just to be safe.
The garden is fully enclosed, so it’s safe for dogs and kids. We accept up to two dogs. You can walk straight out of the gate and into the woods. There’s secure bike storage with racks if you need it. The mountain biking trails around here are very good. The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is just up the road.
For a bigger day out, Symonds Yat Rock is about a twenty minute drive. Puzzlewood, which you might recognise from films, is about the same. Forestry England has a lot of information about walking trails and activities. The Wye Valley is close by, and you can get to Monmouth or Ross-on-Wye in under half an hour.
In terms of what’s here: there’s a dishwasher, a washing machine, TV, WiFi, all bedding and towels are included, and there’s parking on the drive. We’ve got a highchair and a stairgate if you’re bringing little ones.
