Higher Scarcliffe is up near Broughton, north of Skipton. It's a 17th century farmhouse that's been done up. It's detached, so no one attached to the walls. You're up a single-track lane, about a mile from the village proper. The views are the main thing. You look right out over the Broughton Hall Estate towards the Dales.
It sleeps six in three double bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which helps. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not a palace. The living area has a high vaulted ceiling and a big stone fireplace. There's a little galleried seating bit up some stairs that kids tend to like. The stairs to the bedrooms are normal house stairs, not too bad.
You've got a patio with a bench. The garden is yours. There's parking right by the property. Inside, there's a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, TV with satellite, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We leave a welcome pack with some basics when you arrive. You can bring up to two dogs.
The nearest pub is about a mile's walk down into Carleton village. Shops and everything else are in Skipton, about three miles away. It's a proper market town with supermarkets, a train station, and the canal. From the house, you're on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. You can walk straight out from the door onto the estate paths.
For days out, Grassington is about a 20 minute drive. Bolton Abbey is maybe 15 minutes. The National Trust look after that. The A59 is close, so you can get over to Harrogate or into the Dales quite easily, all within half an hour.
