This is Honey Cottage, in Gargrave. It's a Victorian cottage we renovated from the ground up a while back. It sleeps four in two double bedrooms. There's one bathroom upstairs with a bath and a separate shower.
The rating is 5 Star, which means it's well-finished. New kitchen, new windows, that sort of thing. We kept the original features where we could. The stairs are a typical cottage style, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep.
You get the front garden to yourselves. It's a proper formal garden, which is rare in the village now. There's a table and chairs out there. Round the back is a small yard with another little table.
Downstairs, there's a living room with a wood burner. The kitchen diner is at the back. Through there is a utility room with a washing machine, a boot sink, and a toilet. There's also a door from there into the old keeping cellar. We've put a small secret bar in there. It's a bit of fun.
Gargrave has what you need. There's a small supermarket, a cafe, takeaways, and two pubs, all within walking distance. The River Aire and the canal are a few minutes' walk away. The Pennine Way footpath goes right through the village, and you can walk to the station for the Settle to Carlisle railway line.
You're on the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Skipton is about ten minutes by car or train. It's a proper market town with a castle, shops, and a cinema. The TV series All Creatures Great and Small is filmed around the Dales, and Haworth for the Brontës is about a 30-minute drive.
Facilities: everything listed is there. Bedding and towels are included. We allow one well-behaved dog. The WiFi works fine.
