Chestnut Cottage is in Hellifield. It’s a one-up-one-down terraced cottage, so it sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which is accurate. It’s comfortable and well looked after.
You come in through the front door into the living room. There’s a wood burning stove, which works well. The kitchen is off the back of that. It’s small but it has what you need, including a dishwasher and a washing machine. There’s a little Belfast sink, which is a nice feature. The back door leads out to a small shared seating area. There’s a shed for bikes or walking boots.
Upstairs is the bedroom and the bathroom. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they’re steeper than modern ones. There’s also a step at the top onto the landing and into the bedroom. You get used to it quickly but you need to remember it’s there.
The village shop is about a hundred yards away. It’s good for basics. There are a couple of pubs in the village that do food.
For walking, you can start right from the door. The Yorkshire Dales are on your doorstep. The Forest of Bowland is about a fifteen-minute drive. Settle is a nice market town, about five miles. Skipton is eleven miles if you need a bigger supermarket or the castle. Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within half an hour. The Lake District is about an hour and a half if you fancy a longer drive.
Everything’s included: electricity, bedding, towels, and the wifi works. There’s a TV. No pets, I’m afraid.
