April Cottage is in Settle, up the hill in the old part of town. It's built into the hillside, so the front door is on one floor and the living room is on the floor below. The streets around it are narrow and cobbled.
It's for two people. One bedroom, but with two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. We've tried to keep the old bits like the stonework and beams, but put in proper heating and a decent shower. It's a comfortable, quiet spot.
You're about five minutes' walk from the market square. There are a couple of pubs and places to eat on the way down. You can park at the cottage and not use the car again if you don't want to.
The Settle to Carlisle railway runs from here. The views from the train are worth the trip on their own. Sometimes there's a steam train running, but you'd have to check the dates.
For walking, you're right in the Yorkshire Dales. Malham Cove is about a 15-minute drive. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site has good route ideas. If you want a day out further afield, the Lake District is roughly an hour's drive.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, TV, WiFi, and a small enclosed patio area out the back. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car on site. No pets, I'm afraid.
It's one of a pair. The cottage next door, May Cottage, can be rented together with this one if you're in a bigger group.
