Graydon Cottage is in Mere Syke, up in the hills. It's a converted barn or outbuilding, next to our house. It's very quiet here, just fields and the lane. You get the whole cottage to yourselves, and a private garden that's enclosed.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. The kitchen was made locally, it's solid. Everything is clean and in good order.
The local pub is about two miles down the road in Bentham. They do good food. The nearest shop for basics is four miles away, so you'll want to bring your groceries with you.
You can walk straight from the door. The Forest of Bowland is right here. If you're into serious walking, the Yorkshire Three Peaks are within half an hour's drive. Yorkshire Dales National Park starts about seven miles east. Settle is a nice market town about seven miles away, and you can get the Settle to Carlisle train from there. Forest of Bowland AONB has good walking routes too.
For a bigger town, Skipton is about fourteen miles. It's got a castle and a market. Clitheroe is about the same distance the other way. If you fancy a day out, the Lake District is just over an hour's drive.
Facilities: it's got a wood burning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside. No pets, sorry.
