Hazelgrove Lodge Barn is up near Monkroyd, right on the edge of Lancashire and Yorkshire. It's a big converted barn that we built ourselves, so it's solid. It sleeps ten people in five bedrooms, and there are four bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which just means it's well-finished and has everything you'd need.
The main living area is all open plan. Big windows, so you get the views from inside. There's an internal balcony upstairs that looks down into the living room. It's a good spot. The master bedroom has its own balcony and dressing room. Another king-size bedroom also has a balcony and an ensuite. There are two other bedrooms and another bathroom on that floor. Downstairs, on the lower ground floor, there's a bedroom with a wet room style bathroom. It has its own entrance, as does the floor above it, so the layout is flexible.
You're down a farm track here. It's part of the Pennine Bridleway, so you can walk straight out onto the moors. The views are the main thing. You can see for miles. We often see deer in the fields. Being a barn, the ceilings are high and the stairs are a fairly typical barn conversion style, so they're open-tread and turn quite sharply.
You're about eight miles from Skipton, which is a proper market town. They've got a castle, a canal, and the market is on most days. Wycoller and the Bronte Country is about six miles away if you're into that. Yorkshire Dales National Park starts not far from Skipton. The Forest of Bowland is about 40 minutes' drive. Pendle Hill is closer, maybe 20 minutes, for walks and that history. There's a 9-hole golf course about seven minutes away by car.
Facilities wise: it's all enclosed garden, parking for a few cars, wood burner, BBQ, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair, and stairgate if needed. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the main living area and bedrooms are upstairs. We allow one dog. There's an outdoor warm shower for washing muddy dogs, which is useful.
