Garth Yr Hebog

Garth Yr Hebog is a one bedroom cottage on the Wern Estate, near Pentrefelin. It's between Porthmadog and Criccieth. It's a converted bothy so it's compact, but well done. It sleeps two.

The rating is 5 Star. That means it's finished to a high standard. It's got underfloor heating, a wood burning stove, and things like that. The bedroom is upstairs and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. The ceiling in the main room is quite high, which makes it feel bigger than it is. There's an original fireplace, though it's not in use.

You have your own enclosed garden. There's a patio area with outdoor furniture and a BBQ. The garden looks out over fields. It's private.

The kitchen has what you need. There's a separate utility cupboard outside with a washing machine, a heated airer, and a spare fridge-freezer, which is useful.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking for one car right by the cottage.

On the estate, there's a private lake you can fish. It's stocked with trout. You have to book and pay extra for that.

Location wise, you're a few minutes' drive from the coast. Black Rock Sands, where you can drive onto the beach, is about ten minutes away. Criccieth is about five minutes in the other direction. The castle there is worth a visit. For a proper mountain day, Snowdonia National Park is maybe twenty five minutes drive. The National Trust has a lot of nearby properties like Plas yn Rhiw.

The Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog is about ten minutes away if you like steam trains.
