The Auction House used to be a chapel. It's in the middle of Criccieth, near the high street.
It's been done up but it still feels like a chapel inside, especially the main room. The ceilings are very high. There's a wood burner in there to keep it warm.
It sleeps eleven people. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are up a spiral staircase. They share a toilet that's up on a little platform. It's different.
The place has a 5 Star rating, so it's well equipped and finished. There's parking on site. We do take dogs, up to two.
You're a few minutes' walk from the castle and the two beaches here. One's more sand, the other's more pebbles. The town has the usual shops and a few places to eat.
Portmeirion is about a ten minute drive away. It's worth seeing. You can get steam trains from Porthmadog, which is the next town along. The Snowdonia National Park starts not far from here, so you're well placed for walking. For local information, Visit Wales is useful.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and all the bedding and towels. There's a patio area out the back.
