Whinstone House

Whinstone House is in Craster, right by the harbour. It's a detached house. Sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. Two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well done and comfortable.

The layout is a bit different. The living room, kitchen, and dining area are all upstairs on the first floor. The bedrooms are downstairs on the ground floor. The main bedroom has French doors out to the garden and its own shower room. There are two other double rooms and a bunk room.

You're a two minute walk from the harbour. Turn right for the pub, which does good food. Turn left and you're straight onto the coastal path. It's a famous walk to Dunstanburgh Castle, which is about a mile and a half along the cliffs. The castle is managed by English Heritage.

Craster is known for kippers. You can buy them at the smokehouse. The village is a good base for the coast.

Alnwick is about a 15 minute drive. That's where Alnwick Castle and the gardens are. Bamburgh is about 20 minutes north. The beach there is huge, and the castle is impressive. Both are worth a visit.

There are beaches all along this bit of coast. Some, like the one at Low Newton, are managed by the National Trust.

For facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and an enclosed garden. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
