The Swaledale is a shepherd's hut on our farm near Burton Fleming. It's just for two people. We live next door.
It's a proper hut on wheels, but we've fixed it in place. There's one room with a double bed and an en-suite shower. It's open plan, so the living space and kitchen area are all together. It's clean and comfortable. The ceiling is a bit low in places if you're tall.
Outside, it's got its own little garden with a patio, a table and chairs, and a hot tub. The hot tub is private, just for you. You look out over our fields. It's a working farm, so you'll see sheep and sometimes hear tractors.
There's a separate building called the Lambing Shed about thirty steps away. That's where the main kitchen is, along with tables to eat at. It's shared with guests from our other two huts, but it's big and rarely busy. It's got a proper oven, a fridge, and a tumble dryer. There's also a small honesty shop there for basics like milk or bread.
You're about five miles from the coast at Filey. Scarborough, Bridlington, and Flamborough Head are all within a twenty to thirty minute drive. There's a local pub a few minutes down the road in the village.
What's here: bedding and towels are included. There's a TV in the hut, parking right outside, and a BBQ. The kitchen in the Lambing Shed has all the pots and pans. No pets, I'm afraid.
If you're planning trips, the Yorkshire Dales National Park website is good for walks, and National Trust Yorkshire has local properties like Beningbrough Hall.
