The Garden Cottage is on the Thorpe Hall estate in Rudston. It's detached. We're about a mile from the village itself.
It sleeps ten. Five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. One of the ground floor bedrooms is set up for less mobile guests, with an en-suite wet room and wide doorways. The whole ground floor is wheelchair accessible, including out to the garden. The stairs to the first floor are normal, not too steep.
It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's an old building, part of it was the apple store for the estate, so you get thick walls and decent space. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings.
Rudston's known for its monolith, a big stone in the churchyard. There's a shop about a mile and a half away. The nearest pub is in Burton Agnes, about three miles.
Bridlington is just over four miles for a proper supermarket and the seafront. The coast is easy to get to. Flamborough Head and RSPB Bempton Cliffs are about fifteen minutes by car for great walks and seabird colonies.
For stately homes, Sewerby Hall is very close, and Burton Agnes Hall is just down the road. Castle Howard is about forty minutes drive.
Facilities: it's got the things you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs. They ask that you keep them off the furniture.
If you're bringing horses, you can use the livery here, you just need to bring feed and bedding. The beach at Fraisthorpe is good for riding.
