Beech House is in Latchley, a small hamlet near the Cornwall and Devon border. It's a detached stone house we rebuilt, so it's solid and well looked after. It sleeps six in four bedrooms. There's one bathroom upstairs and a toilet downstairs.
The main thing here is the view. You get long views over the Tamar Valley from the back. The garden is mainly lawn and wraps around the house. There's a circular patio with seating and a BBQ. The garden walls are old and have a drop in places, so you'd need to keep an eye on children.
Inside, the kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and a wine cooler. The lounge has a wood burner and a painted map of the local area on the wall. Through the utility room there's another room we use as a games room, with a table tennis table. You could use it as a gym if you preferred. The stairs are standard, not too steep.
It's a rural spot. There's a local pub a short walk away. For a shop, you'd drive to Gunnislake or Tavistock, both about ten minutes away. Tavistock has a good market and places to eat.
You're well placed for walks in the Tamar Valley or on Dartmoor, which is about a 20 minute drive. The village of Calstock, with its river views and railway, is a 15 minute drive. Plymouth is under half an hour if you need a city or the ferry to Cornwall. The north and south Cornish coasts are both within about a 45 minute drive.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels are included, and there's parking for two cars on the gravel drive. We allow one well-behaved dog.
