Hollyhock

Hollyhock is a one-bedroom apartment for two people, on the lower ground floor of our house. We live in the main part, so we're around if you need anything. You get your own front door, which is down a few steps from the garden.

It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's got one bedroom with a queen-size bed, a shower room, and an open-plan living area. There's a wood burner for chilly evenings, and a kitchen with a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. The WiFi works fine.

You can bring one well-behaved dog. The garden is shared with us, but you have your own patio bit with seating and a barbecue. There's parking on the drive.

Location is the main thing. You can walk into Tavistock town centre in about five minutes. There's a good pannier market, some nice independent shops, and plenty of places to eat. Being on the edge of Dartmoor means you can drive for five minutes and be right out on the moor. Or just walk from the door into the woodland along the river.

For a day out, Dartmoor is right there for walking. The coast at Cornwall or South Devon is about a 45-minute drive. There are a few National Trust places within half an hour, like Cotehele or Buckland Abbey. Useful links for planning: Dartmoor National Park Authority and National Trust Devon.

The facilities list is accurate. It has everything on there, from the cot to the TV. It's a good base. That's about it.
