Garden Cottage

Garden Cottage is in Hatches Green, just outside Gunnislake. It's a detached place, sat in the grounds of our own house. You get your own bit of garden and a patio with a table. The land around us is about two acres of woods and banks, so it's quiet and green.

It sleeps four. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, so it's quite handy for that. The rating is 4 Star, which covers things like the dishwasher and proper heating. The stairs inside are a particular thing to mention. They're a proper cottage spiral staircase, quite steep and open. You need to watch your step.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included, and there's parking right by the cottage.

The local pub is about half a mile walk. It's a proper village pub. For a shop, you'll need to go into Gunnislake itself, which is about a mile away. They've got a post office and the basics.

You're right on the Tamar here, so Devon is just over the river. Cotehele, the Tudor house, is about ten minutes away by car. The National Trust runs it and the gardens are good. For a bigger day out, Tavistock in Devon is maybe fifteen minutes drive, and Plymouth is about half an hour.

If you walk, you're on the Tamar Valley trails straight from the door. It's good for that. For the coast, you're looking at a forty-minute drive to places like Whitsand Bay or Downderry.
