Chestnut House is one of the cottages at Sherrill Farm. It's a big old place they converted from barns about twenty years ago. It sleeps twelve.
There are four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom, which is useful with that many people. There's also a wet room on the ground floor.
The farm has about thirteen cottages around a courtyard. You share the grounds and the leisure building. That's got a large indoor heated swimming pool, a hot tub, a gym, a games room, and a bowling alley. It's open until 9pm. There's also an all-weather tennis court.
The stairs inside Chestnut House are a bit steep. It's got the character you'd expect from an old building.
You're in Dunterton, right on the Devon and Cornwall border. It's very quiet. The farm has sixteen acres with ponds. One is for wildlife, the others are for fishing if you fancy it. You'll see a lot of birds. We often see badgers and foxes in the evening.
The nearest pub is about a mile away. The shop is four and a half miles, so you'll want to drive for supplies.
You're about six miles from Tavistock. It's a proper market town with a pannier market. For a big day out, you're right on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. It's open moorland, good for walking. The National Trust has several properties nearby like Cotehele and Buckland Abbey. The north and south coasts of Devon and Cornwall are both within an hour's drive.
Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding is included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs. Parking is on site.
