Farmer Oaks Hut is a shepherd's hut in Dippertown. It's on our land, we live in the farmhouse nearby. It's just for two people.
The hut itself is one room with a bed at one end and a small kitchen area at the other. There's a separate shower room built onto the side. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. It's a proper shepherd's hut, so the space is compact. If you're very tall, mind your head on the beams.
Outside is your own enclosed garden. There's a table and chairs, and a little covered area with a barbecue and a camping stove for cooking outside. We've left a cookbook there with some ideas. Beyond your fence is our orchard and a wildflower meadow. You get a view over the fields.
From the garden gate, a path leads to a small wooden bridge over the stream into the woods. There's a circular walk marked out. You might see deer or buzzards.
There's a good farm shop about two miles away, and a few pubs within three miles. The nearest one does decent food.
For days out, you're well placed. Dartmoor is about seven miles away at Lydford Gorge. Tavistock has its pannier market. Roadford Lake is five miles for fishing or sailing. The A30 is ten minutes away, so you can get to north Cornwall's beaches in under an hour. Plymouth is about half an hour's drive if you want a city day.
In terms of what's here: bedding and towels are included, there's parking right by the hut, you've got the outdoor cooking setup, and there's space to store bikes. No pets, sorry.
