Farmer Oaks Hut is ours, but we live on the farm too, just so you know. It's an old shepherd's hut we did up. It's in Dippertown, near Launceston. You turn off the A30 and you're here in about ten minutes.
It's just for two people. One room with a double bed, all open plan. There's a proper shower in the bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, which is right. It's clean and has what you need, but it's a hut so the space is compact.
The hut sits in its own little enclosed garden. Beyond that there's our orchard and a meadow. You get a view over the fields. There's an outdoor cooking spot with a BBQ and we left a recipe book out there.
From the garden gate you can get straight onto a woodland walk. It goes over a little stream on a wooden bridge. It's a nice loop for a quick stroll.
There's a good farm shop about two miles away, and a few pubs within three miles. The one in Lifton does decent food.
You're close to a lot from here. Dartmoor is about seven miles east. Roadford Lake is five miles for fishing or walking. Launceston has its castle. Tavistock and its pannier market is about a twenty minute drive. Plymouth and the coast are maybe forty minutes south. You can get to north Cornwall beaches in under an hour.
What's here: a BBQ, bike storage if you need it, your own garden, bedding and towels are included, parking right outside. No pets, I'm afraid.
If you're planning trips, these sites are useful: Dartmoor National Park, National Trust South West, and English Heritage for Launceston Castle.
