Kay’s Cottage is tucked away down a long-gravelled driveway, with an outdoor area where you can soak up the sunshine at the start of each day with your morning brew. Built over 150 years ago, this quaint cottage still retains some beautiful original features and has been tastefully furnished throughout. Stepping inside you are welcomed into the wonderful kitchen with a dining area beside the feature fireplace. Through from the dining area you have the separate cosy lounge, complete with an electric stove making this room extra snug and warm. After a busy day exploring you can unwind on the sofa in front of the TV, beneath the beamed ceiling. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the master bedroom has a double bed, and the smaller room has twin beds. The shower room is modern and inviting, where you can start each day refreshed. Here you have two designated parking bays, plus storage for bikes and other outdoor equipment.
This is the ideal destination for those who love the great outdoors, with incredible scenic views in the National Park to soak up. Dogs will be in heaven, and are welcome in most pubs. On the moorland they need to be kept on a lead due to the free roaming sheep and wild birds, however there are great woodland walks such as Dalby Forest where they can run free, as well as beaches along the fabulous Yorkshire coast around 30 minutes’ drive away. Middleton itself is a small village just on the edge of the market town of Pickering. In Middleton you have a popular pub serving hearty meals, as well as a small tearoom and a local shop. Neighbouring Pickering has a medieval castle as well as a steam train which winds its way from Pickering over the rolling heather, through valleys and over hills to many picturesque villages all the way to Whitby on the coast. Ideal for a special day out. In December they even have a themed Christmas Santa Special on the steam train.
The North Yorkshire Moors is a haven for walkers with many trails to explore and an abundance of wildlife. Nearby you have Malton the food capital of Yorkshire with a market, award-winning restaurants, and a cookery school. Castle Howard is one of Britain’s finest stately homes, sure to fill you with awe. There are also the beaches of Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. For children why not treat them with a day out to remember at Flamingoland theme park and the zoo less than 15 minutes away.
