Built back in the 1870s this cottage is full of character and deceptively spacious inside, providing an ideal stay for guests wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, as well as the coast with the seafaring town of Whitby just 15 minutes away.
With rustic pine flooring as well as two atmospheric wood burners, Hillrise welcomes you on a quintessential cottage holiday in the National Park. Stepping inside, the hallway branches off to the living room, where you can unwind on one of the sofas in front of the crackling flames in the stove. There is a separate dining room which boasts the second stove with a step leading down to the kitchen, which has everything you could wish for to create your favourite home cooked meals. On the ground floor you also have the addition of a drying cupboard where a heater dries out the clothes you hang in here, perfect if you get caught by the rain while exploring. At the rear of the property, you have an enclosed yard with a seating area, as well as lockable storage for bikes or outdoor equipment such as paddleboards. Upstairs on the first floor you have a bathroom with a freestanding bath as well as a shower cubicle plus a shower room with a rainforest shower beneath a skylight. There is a well-presented double bedroom and a single bedroom on this floor. Up on the second floor there is another double bedroom as well as a twin bedroom beneath the vaulted beamed ceiling. The property is completed with a games area up on this floor, with lots of board games and toys as well as a Wii games console and a TV with a DVD player, it even has a play pen for the small members of the family.
This is a fabulous choice for families as well as friends looking to discover the best that Yorkshire has to offer. There are plenty of walking and biking trails a great way to take in the scenery. This Glaisdale cottage provides a good base to combine a country and seaside holiday.
