Set in a peaceful residential area just a 10-minute walk to the harbour and the centre of town, you are ideally placed to enjoy all of the attractions in this gorgeous town, including the long golden beach, which stretches for miles. On the ground floor you have the lounge at the front of the property, with large bay windows bathing the room in natural light and plenty of seating, so that you can all comfortably relax in this room in an evening. The dining room adjoins the separate kitchen, with a large sweeping table making each meal a social event. If you enjoy good food then Whitby is a fabulous base, here you have the freshest locally caught seafood so you can create your own dishes to delight your family, or there is a great selection of award winning restaurants as well as quirky independent cafés and takeaways if you prefer. At the rear there is a small enclosed patio, which is well presented and has a seating area with an outdoor utility room, perfect was washing sandy clothes or beach towels after a day at the beach. Up on the first floor you have a bathroom as well as two king beds, the larger king bedroom boasts abbey views. The second floor has the second bathroom as well as a king bedroom which boasts the best views of the sea and abbey over the rooftops. The final bedroom is on the third floor under the eaves with a Velux window, this room has twin beds. Each bedroom is well presented, with high quality beds and furnishings ensuring you have a comfortable stay.
Explore your local surroundings, where you will find the popular Railway Chippy and a convenience store all within a 2-3 minute walk. Continue into the heart of the town where you will find the attractions of the Gothic Whitby Abbey, Whitby Museum, the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and panoramic views atop the 199 Steps. There is something for everyone in Whitby, with excellent fishing opportunities available along the West Pier and aboard one of the many boat trips which leave the harbour, picturesque picnic spots with-in Pannett Park or fun-filled live performances at the Whitby Pavilion. Don’t forget to spend the day on the glorious sands of Whitby Beach, where you can bathe, build sandcastles with the little ones, or wander up to the historic Whitby Harbour West Lighthouse. For guests who are adventurous there is a local surf school, where you can also hire paddleboards and sea kayaks. There are boat trips from the harbour where you can look out for coastal wildlife, including seals and porpoises if you are lucky.
Venture into the North York Moors National Park, where you will discover charming villages, vast moorland as well as ancient forests all laced with walking trails. For some of the best scenery you can take a day trip from Whitby on the heritage steam train. If you love the great outdoors you can follow The Cinder Track on foot or by bike down to Scarborough via Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar or take in the incredible views along the Cleveland Way trail along the cliff tops. For families you can explore the attractions of the Sea Life Centre,, Alpamare water park, Go Ape tree top ziplining and Flamingo Land Theme Park all within an hour’s drive away, perfect for a day out to remember.
