This beautiful cottage offers a comfortable stay within the charming market town of Kirkbymoorside and is set in the town’s conservation area. This terraced cottage has plenty of character and offers both families, couples and friends a perfect holiday retreat whilst being ideally located to explore all that the North York Moors has to offer. Set back from the main thoroughfare of the town, Anvil Cottage was once part of the town’s metalworking industry and has since been stylishly furnished and decorated by the owners whilst keeping original features such as the exposed wooden beams throughout the property. Anvil Cottage is set over two levels, the living area is a lovely cosy, comfortable space where you can snuggle up and relax in front of the electric wood burner with a glass of red after a day exploring the wonderful surrounding area. On the same floor you have a well-presented, well-equipped modern kitchen/diner which has plenty of room for food preparation and dining space. Up one flight of stairs you are greeted by two beautifully decorated and furnished bedrooms all with luxurious bedding guaranteeing a perfect night’s sleep with both offering plenty of storage. Also on the first floor is the lovely family bathroom which presents a large walk-in shower, underfloor heating and a heated towel rail. To the front of the cottage, there is a small outside seating area which is a great place to sit and have a well-deserved glass of fizz alfresco style or enjoy the fresh morning air with a coffee to get you ready for the adventures that lie ahead!
Anvil Cottage is pet friendly, and there are miles of walking trails and public footpaths to explore during your visit. The Heritage Coast, Whitby, Scarborough and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within easy reach should you wish to have a day at the beach. A visit to this area would not be complete without a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Some of the stations along the Pickering to Whitby route have featured in the Harry Potter films! The historic medieval city of York is under 40 minutes from Kirkbymoorside which is where you will find The Shambles, believed to be the inspiration behind Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books and films. Whilst in York you can visit the medieval cathedral, York’s Chocolate Story or enjoy a little retail therapy with its wealth of independent shops. Nearer to home, Kirkbymoorside which is known as the ‘gateway to the moors’ and the picturesque market town of Helmsley offer lots of amenities including shops selling local produce, restaurants and cafés and not forgetting the fantastic weekly markets.
