The Old House Cottage is situated in a quiet lane in the village of Flixton close to the North and East Yorkshire coast. It was originally the local pub and has been renovated from the outbuildings. The owners of this comfortable, single-storey, semi-detached cottage have taken a lot of pride in providing a very good standard holiday property, with excellent décor and furnishings.
The cottage has two private parking spaces and its own patio with seating area which overlooks the large manicured, lawned garden, which is shared with the owners who live next door along with their friendly dogs. The cottage is not overlooked by the owners, but they are on hand should you need advice or assistance during your stay.
The traditional seaside resorts of Filey, Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, and Flamborough Head are just a short drive away. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is visited by thousands of tourists that travel for miles to see the migrating seabirds perched on the clifftops. The puffins are what most people like to see, and you get great views of them from the viewing platforms.
Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and there are plenty to visit within a short drive, and worth a visit are Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and the wonderful Castle Howard. There are lots of great walks nearby and the Wolds Way passes along the side of the village giving you access to the wonderful rolling Yorkshire Wolds, made famous by David Hockney in his paintings. The medieval city of York is not to be missed and can be reached within an hour, either using the ’park and ride’ nearby, or the train.
York has been voted in the top 10 cities to visit and there are plenty of museums, theatres, art galleries and street cafés as well as a bustling market. The village has a very popular local pub that serves good food seven days a week, and which is just a 2-minute walk from the cottage. Beach 4 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub 300 yards and restaurant 500 yards.
