Porthole Cottage

Porthole Cottage is a delightful, stone-built, 18th-century cottage in the pretty seaside village of Flamborough, midway between Bridlington and Filey on the East Yorkshire Coast. It makes an ideal base for families and couples looking for a relaxing break in this stunning part of Yorkshire. Recently renovated throughout in 2022, this mid-terraced cottage offers a really warm welcome. Step inside the living/dining room and sink into the deep-filled sofa and comfy armchair in front of the wood burner to watch TV in the evening after a long day exploring the local area. The country-style kitchen offers a host of modern appliances and there’s even a slow cooker for delicious stews during the winter months. A toilet completes the ground floor accommodation. Walk through the shared courtyard area and you’ll find your own private courtyard with seating, and further on still a private secret garden with mature borders a delightful selection of fruit trees, neatly trimmed lawn and a picnic bench - just perfect for an early morning coffee or an al fresco evening meal. In the evening, retire to the first floor to one of two beautifully presented bedrooms . A house shower room sits between the two.
The beautiful seaside village of Flamborough is surrounded by scenic countryside from towering chalk cliffs to the unspoilt rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. The village offers plenty of shops, tea rooms and restaurants where you can enjoy some delicious Yorkshire fayre. A short walk from Porthole Cottage are the breathtaking Flamborough Cliffs, RSPB Bempton Cliffs and plenty of sandy coves with rock pools to explore. Danes Dyke Nature Reserve and Flamborough Lighthouse are also within a short walk from the cottage.
With two golf courses close at hand and a host of stately homes, including Sewerby Hall and Garden, Burton Agnes and Sledmere House, there is something for everyone. A little further along the coast are the famous seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey, and for a little more excitement, explore the North Riding Forest Park on bike or foot. The historic walled city of York and the cultural port town of Hull are under an hour’s drive away. Both cities offer vibrant night life as well as a choice of theatres and shopping experiences. A holiday to Porthole Cottage will leave you with many happy memories. Beach ½ mile.
