The beautiful seaside village of Flamborough is surrounded by scenic countryside from towering chalk cliffs to the unspoilt rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. The village offers plenty of shops, tea rooms and restaurants where you can enjoy some delicious Yorkshire fayre. A short walk from Porthole Cottage are the breathtaking Flamborough Cliffs, RSPB Bempton Cliffs and plenty of sandy coves with rock pools to explore. Danes Dyke Nature Reserve and Flamborough Lighthouse are also within a short walk from the cottage.
With two golf courses close at hand and a host of stately homes, including Sewerby Hall and Garden, Burton Agnes and Sledmere House, there is something for everyone. A little further along the coast are the famous seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey, and for a little more excitement, explore the North Riding Forest Park on bike or foot. The historic walled city of York and the cultural port town of Hull are under an hour’s drive away. Both cities offer vibrant night life as well as a choice of theatres and shopping experiences.
