Originally part of the fishing community, this cottage is oozing with character. Situated in a quiet street just off the main Filey high street it makes it a perfect stay with easy access to the shops, restaurants and the beach. This terraced cottage has been restored to a good standard and the owners have given it a real holiday feel, with great décor and seaside bunting. To the rear of the property there is a small, enclosed courtyard with seating - a great little suntrap. There is on road parking on a first come, first served basis.
Filey is a very traditional seaside resort with one of the best beaches down the east coast. It’s not as busy as its neighbours, Scarborough and Bridlington, and is a popular choice with young families due to the large sandy beach that stretches for miles down towards Reighton.
Bempton Cliffs area a short drive away. This has a very famous RSPB bird reserve where you can witness the spectacular seabird activity on the cliffs. Children will enjoy seeing the comical puffins and there’s plenty for children to do with educational games and walks. Further north are the resorts of Scarborough, Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby. The town of Whitby is bustling with people in the summer, and definitely worth a visit. To the south of Filey is Bridlington where you will find a busy working harbour, as well as excellent beaches. For those who enjoy visiting the magnificent stately homes that Yorkshire boasts, this is a prime location from which to visit several such as Sewerby Hall, Sledmere House, Burton Constable and the wonderful Castle Howard, which are all within a short drive. The cities of York and Hull are both within an hour’s drive, or can be reached by train. Golf course ½ mile. Beach 300 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards.
