Out in the back garden this spacious area has been landscaped with a pathway and steps leading from the private terrace with seating beneath a wooden pagoda down to a cosy timber summer house where you have front row seats to watch the passing steam train which runs from Whitby to Pickering. The train winds its way through the rolling moorland and past ancient forests in the surrounding national park, stopping at scenic villages along the way. The mighty locomotive is a sight to behold as it puffs out billowing steam only inches away from the garden wall, passing the cottage daily in the summer as well as for special winter events.
Ruswarp is the perfect location for those that want a quiet village with a pub on the edge of the National Park, also close to the coast, meaning you have the best of both worlds. There are excellent amenities in the village, including an award-winning butcher’s, local shop and a pub that serves real ale as well as good food. With boating on the River Esk and a lovely waterside tea room, the locality has much to offer. The historic delights of Whitby are within easy walking distance or public transport is available too. The Esk Valley Walk runs through the village and a public footpath offers a pleasant walk into the historic port of Whitby, with its pretty harbour, sandy beaches and wide range of restaurants and shops.
