The Lodge Cottage

Nestling amongst spacious, rambling gardens and large orchard, this traditional, stone-built country cottage is perfect for families or those looking for a totally relaxing break far from the demands of today’s busy world. Children love the freedom to roam in the grounds, inspiring creativity as they explore and build dens. There’s plenty of space for barbecues, and the peace and tranquillity of the garden attract numerous species of birds and animals.
The renovated cottage retains country charm whilst providing modern day facilities. The well-equipped kitchen and spacious dining room are ideal for enjoying meals around the table together, and a vast selection of board games are provided for fun-filled evenings around the roaring fires. There is a large ground floor family bedroom and two first floor bedrooms, all with very good quality beds and high quality bed linen, a contemporary ground floor shower and a cosy first floor bathroom – plenty of space for everyone to spread out.
The surrounding area is a walker’s paradise and groups of friends will find Lodge Cottage an ideal base from which to explore the numerous walking and cycling trails to be found in the scenic countryside of the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The picturesque village of Hovingham, 2½ miles, with the historic Hovingham Hall has a village shop, a bakery and tea rooms, two pubs, a café and hair salon. Bustling market towns can be found at Helmsley, Easingwold, Pickering and Malton, all with an interesting array of eateries and shops and within a 30-minute drive. There are stately homes at Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall, abbey ruins at Rievaulx and Byland, and family fun at Flamingo Land and ‘Go Ape’ in Dalby Forest. The North York Moors and the seaside resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey are all easily accessible, whilst the ancient walled city of York is just a 40-minute drive and not to be missed when visiting this beautiful part of Yorkshire. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
