Tawelfan is in Cilcennin, a small village in Mid-Wales. It's one of two cottages on our smallholding. The name means 'quiet place', which fits.
It's a one-bedroom place for two people. We converted it from an old cow shed, so there's some exposed stonework inside. Everything's on one level, which makes it easy. The kitchen is new and the wet room is a good standard. It's got a 4 Star rating.
You have your own enclosed courtyard outside the front door. It's a proper suntrap in good weather. We have sheep in the fields around and some chickens, so we ask that dogs are kept on a lead when they're outside the courtyard. Just so everyone gets on.
There are public footpaths right from the property. You can do a short loop or a much longer walk without needing to drive first.
Aberaeron is about a 15-minute drive. It's a nice harbour town with coloured houses. Plenty of places to eat and get an ice cream. New Quay is a bit further down the coast, maybe 25 minutes. You can sometimes see dolphins from the harbour wall there, and they do boat trips in the season.
Llanerchaeron is a National Trust house near Aberaeron. It's a well-kept Georgian estate with a walled garden. They have a farm shop and a cafe. You can find details here: National Trust Llanerchaeron.
If you head inland, Tregaron is a market town about half an hour away. The Cors Caron bog is just outside it, which is a big nature reserve. Good for a walk if you fancy something different from the coast.
In terms of what's here, there's parking, WiFi, a TV, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. We accept up to two dogs. You can book both cottages together if you're a larger group.
