Brynog Mansion Farmhouse is a big wing of the main house on our farm. It sleeps fourteen people across six bedrooms, with five bathrooms. That makes it pretty good for large family holidays or groups.
The history is interesting. A house has been here for centuries. The Vaughans added the front you see now around 1860. The driveway was planted to welcome a son home from war, but he never saw it. You'll cross the stone bridge over the River Aeron to get here. Inside, you can still see the initials 'EV' carved into some roof beams.
The main living room is very large, with an inglenook fireplace. It used to be the saddle and gun rooms. There's a big log supporting the chimney stack behind the stove, still with its bark on.
Being a farmhouse, it's a working farm. You'll see sheep and cattle in the fields. The views are out over the Aeron Valley. It is a lovely view. The writer Dylan Thomas thought it was the most beautiful valley in Wales.
Some practical things: It's got a 4 Star rating. There's a games room. The entrance and a wet room are wheelchair accessible. We can take up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. You get the garden and patio to yourselves, with a barbecue.
The nearest shop and pub are about a mile away in the village. Aberaeron, a Georgian harbour town, is just under seven miles. It's got good fish and chips and colourful houses along the seafront. The university town of Lampeter is also about seven miles away.
You're well placed for the coast. The Cardigan Bay footpath is a few miles away and worth walking. You can drive to beaches like New Quay and Llangrannog in under half an hour. Aberystwyth and Cardigan are within a thirty minute drive too.
