The Cowshed is a ground floor apartment in Earl Sterndale, in the Peak District. It sleeps two. It’s part of the old pub building here.
It’s been done up recently. It feels clean and new, but there’s an old stone wall and an original stone stall divider left in, so you get a sense of what it was. There’s a small outdoor space too.
The shower room is modern. There’s a TV and Wi-Fi. Heating, electric, bedding and towels are all included. You can park right outside.
It’s a good spot for walking. You can see Parkhouse and Chrome Hill from the door, and the paths start from here. We put in an outdoor hose for cleaning boots and bikes, and there’s a drying room for wet gear.
You can bring one dog. The village is quiet. The nearest pub for food is probably in Longnor, about a mile and a half away. They do have a chip shop there too.
Buxton is about fifteen minutes by car for bigger shops. Bakewell is maybe twenty-five minutes. Chatsworth House is under half an hour. The whole area is good for walking or cycling. You can get maps and route ideas from the Peak District National Park site.
