Oakstone House is in Harpur Hill, on the outskirts of Buxton. It's a detached house, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are singles but they have pull-out beds underneath, so they can be set up as doubles if you need. There are two bathrooms, one is an en-suite to the main bedroom. There's also a downstairs toilet. It's a 4 Star place, so it's been graded for a good level of comfort and equipment.
The garden out the back is yours to use. It gets the sun in the afternoon. There's parking for two cars on the drive.
In the village there's a pub that does food, a butcher, a chip shop, and a newsagent. It's about a ten minute walk to them. There's a circular walking trail from the house that takes about 45 minutes and goes past the pub.
Buxton centre is a couple of miles away. That's where you'll find the Opera House, the Pavilion Gardens, and most of the shops and restaurants. The Peak District starts pretty much at the end of the road. You can walk straight onto the hills from here.
For a day out, Chatsworth House is about half an hour's drive. So is Bakewell. The Manifold Valley and Dovedale are in easy reach too. For walking information, the Peak District National Park site is useful. For local history, English Heritage looks after Peveril Castle in Castleton.
Facilities include the washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. All bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
