Keith

This is Keith. It's one of two pods we have on the farm at Cairngarroch, in Dumfriesshire. It's detached, so it's just you and the view. And the view is fields rolling down to the Irish Sea.

It's for two people. One room, really. A decent double bed, a small kitchen area, a shower room. It's got a 3 Star rating, which is about right. It's clean, warm, and does the job. There's a covered porch out front, which is where you'll probably want to sit with a drink.

You can bring one dog. There's a bit of garden, and the farm fields around you, but please keep dogs on a lead near the livestock.

Portpatrick is the local village, about a ten minute drive. It's a pretty harbour with pubs that do food. Good for a pint and watching the boats.

If you're here to walk, the Southern Upland Way is on your doorstep. The clifftop paths are brilliant. You can walk to the ruins of Dunskey Castle from Portpatrick. The Mull of Galloway, the very bottom of Scotland, is about forty minutes by car. The lighthouse there is worth the trip.

For a wet day, Logan Botanic Garden is about twenty minutes away. It's a surprising place, full of plants you wouldn't expect to grow here.

Facilities are what you see: TV, WiFi, parking right outside, bedding and towels are included. There's a shower, not a bath.

Some useful links for the area: Logan Botanic Garden (NTS) and Mull of Galloway.
