Fern Forest House
Fern Forest House is in Portpatrick, on the Dunskey Estate. It's a detached house. It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. They all have their own bathroom. It's a 5 Star place, which just means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard.
The house was originally for the head gardener. It's been done up, so it's modern inside but in an old building. The living room has an open fire and a bay window. The kitchen has all the appliances you'd need. There's a proper dining table.
The stairs are normal. The bedrooms have good storage and comfortable beds. Everything's carpeted.
Outside, there's a garden with a fire pit and a barbecue. You look out over fields. You'll see estate ponies, deer, and pheasants. You have access to the whole 2000-acre estate, which includes private woodland, a maze, two lochs, and about three miles of coastline with beaches and cliffs to walk. The estate map is in the house.
Portpatrick village is about a mile away. There's a pub and a restaurant there. The nearest shop for a big grocery shop is in Stranraer, about eight miles. The local pub serves food.
For days out, you're right on the Southern Upland Way for walking. The Mull of Galloway is about a half hour drive south. Logan Botanic Garden is worth a visit, also within half an hour. You can get a ferry to Northern Ireland from Cairnryan, which is roughly 20 minutes by car.
Facilities: everything listed is there. WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher, cot, bedding and towels included. Parking for two cars. You can bring up to two dogs.
