There's a shop, a pub, and places to eat within half a mile. The beach is about a ten minute walk away.
If you're driving, Stranraer is about fifteen minutes away for bigger shops. The Mull of Galloway is about half an hour south. It's good for a trip out. You can drive up to Glen Trool in the Galloway Forest Park in under an hour.
