The Royal Apartment is a wing of a big Edwardian castle near Portpatrick. It's on a private estate with a long drive. It's got its own private entrance and a courtyard garden.
It sleeps twelve people in six bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Four have kingsize beds and two have single beds. It has a 4 Star rating. It's been done up inside, so it's modern but still in an old castle. The stairs are the original spiral staircase from Glasgow. They're quite narrow and steep.
You've got 2000 acres of estate land to explore. There are marked walks through the glen, past a waterfall, down to two beaches. There are also two lochs on the grounds. You'll need wellies for most of that. You might see seals or dolphins from the shore.
The village of Portpatrick is a couple of minutes away by car. It's a small harbour with a few restaurants and pubs. Dunskey Golf Course is right there. The wider area is quiet and rural, so a car is pretty essential.
For facilities: it's open plan living. There's a woodburning stove, a modern kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine, TV and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it. Parking is on the estate. You can bring up to two dogs.
