Military Drive 8 is a detached house in Portpatrick. It's part of a small row of similar houses, numbers 4, 7 and 8. You get the one with the first floor living room.
It sleeps up to twelve people. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, so it works for a few families or a big group. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped.
The main quirk is the living room is upstairs. It's a big room with French doors onto a balcony. You get good views over the town and the harbour from there. There's a pool table and a small bar area in that room too. There's a hot tub out the back.
The house is on the edge of the town centre. You can walk down to the harbour in a few minutes. There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about 200 yards away. The beach is a short walk down the hill.
For walks, the Southern Upland Way passes close by. There are cliff-top paths right from the town. The Galloway Hills are inland if you want more challenging upland walks. The NatureScot site has good information on the local wildlife and landscapes.
Golfers are well catered for. There are courses at Stranraer and Portpatrick itself within twenty minutes. Turnberry is about 45 minutes' drive if you want a bigger day out.
If you're here for a while, you can get the ferry from Stranraer over to Ireland for a day trip. Wigtown, the book town, is about a half hour drive and has some nice cafes. The Logan Botanic Garden is also worth a visit if you like gardens.
Facilities: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a highchair if you need one.
If you have a very big group, you can book this one together with numbers 4 and 7 next door.
