Knockinaam House

Knockinaam House is in Cairngarroch, in southern Scotland. It's a detached house, so no neighbours attached. It's in some woods about a five minute drive from Portpatrick. The views from the front are across fields to the sea.

It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating. There's a wood burning stove in the living room. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing a dog, we allow one. There's parking for a few cars right at the house.

Inside, it's all on one level from the main entrance, so it's wheelchair accessible. There's a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.

Portpatrick is the nearest village. It's a proper working harbour. Nice for a wander and there are places to eat. The cliff walk around there is good. You might see porpoises.

If you drive a bit further, the Mull of Galloway is the southernmost point in Scotland. There's an RSPB reserve there. Logan Botanic Garden is about a twenty minute drive and is worth a visit if you like plants. It's run by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

The Galloway Forest Park is about a half hour drive inland. It's a Dark Sky Park, so the stars are good on a clear night. The 7Stanes mountain bike trails are there too, at Kirroughtree.

There are local golf courses, like the one at Portpatrick. The coast is all around here, so beaches and fishing aren't far.
