Chestnut Lodge

Chestnut Lodge is near Portpatrick, over in Dumfriesshire. It's a detached place, built for a big group. Sleeps sixteen, in seven bedrooms. There are five bathrooms, which helps when you've got that many people.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. The main living area is upstairs, which is a bit different. It opens out onto a big deck. The view from there is good, you can see the sea. The stairs inside are steep and a bit narrow in places, just so you know.

The garden is yours to use. There's parking right there. It has the things you'd expect: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. It says luxury, which means it's in good order and feels a bit more spacious. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.

You're a fifteen minute walk from a sandy beach. The harbour at Portpatrick is about half a mile for a pub or a meal. It's a proper seaside village. There's a golf course very close by.

If you like walking, you're set. The coastal path is right there. For a day out, the Logan Botanic Garden is worth seeing. The Galloway Forest Park is about a half hour drive. It's a Dark Sky Park, good for stargazing if the weather plays ball. The RSPB centre at the Mull of Galloway is a drive along the coast, maybe forty minutes.
