Cairncroft Cottage is near Stranraer, in the Rhins of Galloway. It's a detached cottage set back from the road, next to our own house. The views from here are good. You can see right over Loch Ryan to Ailsa Craig and Arran on a clear day.
It sleeps six people. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One is a shower room downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The heating is electric and included in the price.
Inside, there's a decent sized kitchen with a dining table. Through a door is the games room. That has a pool table in it. The sitting room has a woodburning stove and looks out over the garden. You have your own garden and patio area with a barbecue. Parking is right outside.
We allow up to two dogs. The garden is fenced but not totally secure, so you'd need to keep an eye on them. Things like bedding, towels, a cot, and a highchair are all here.
For things to do, Portpatrick is about ten minutes drive. It's a pretty harbour village with places to eat. The coastal walk there from Dunskey Castle is worth doing. Stranraer is the same distance the other way. It has a swimming pool at The Ryan Centre and Agnew Park for kids.
The whole peninsula is good for walking or cycling on quiet roads. The Mull of Galloway, right at the southern tip, has the lighthouse and great views. For gardens, Logan Botanic Garden is famous and well worth a visit. Castle Kennedy Gardens are nearby too.
