Kirklauchline Cottage

Kirklauchline Cottage is near Cairngarroch, a few miles inland from Portpatrick. It's a proper old stone cottage, detached, up on a bit of a rise. The main thing is the view. From the front garden and the living room you can see right out over the fields to the sea.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up inside so it's warm and comfortable, but it's still a cottage. The living area is open plan with a kitchen at one end. There are two wood burning stoves, which is a bit unusual but it means the place is really cosy in the evenings.

The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing a dog. You can have one well-behaved pet. There's parking right there.

Portpatrick is about three miles away. It's a nice little harbour village with a few places to eat and drink. You can walk to it along the coast path if you want. The walk starts on the cliffs above the harbour and is part of the long-distance Southern Upland Way.

If you like birds, the RSPB Mull of Galloway reserve is about a 30-minute drive south. It's the southernmost point in Scotland. The Logan Botanic Garden is closer, maybe 20 minutes away. It's quite tropical for here.

The facilities are what you'd expect: TV, WiFi, a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There are a few golf courses around if that's your thing, and the coast is good for fishing.
