The Old Schoolhouse

The Old Schoolhouse is about three miles from Portpatrick village. It's a detached house, used to be a school, and it's on three acres of its own land. So it's quite isolated. You'll see the sea from some of the windows.

It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. The rating is 4 Star. It's comfortable and well-equipped, but it's an old rural house. So the walls are thick, the floors are uneven in places, and there's a character to it. The main stairs are open and steep. They're not dangerous, but you need to be careful on them. That's just how it is.

You're three miles from the nearest shop, pub, or restaurant, which is in Portpatrick. It's a nice little harbour village. The nearest proper beach for sand is about four and a half miles away. There are rocky bits of coast much closer though.

If you like walking, you're spoilt. The Southern Upland Way and the Mull of Galloway are right there. The coastline is dramatic. For wildlife, keep an eye out for red squirrels and deer. The RSPB Mull of Galloway is a big draw if you like birds.

Golf at Dunskey is close. Stranraer is a short drive for bigger shops or a cinema. It's a good base for exploring Galloway.

Facilities: It has most things you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, wood burning stove, WiFi, TV. There's a cot and a highchair. The bedding and towels are included. There's plenty of parking. The garden is big and there's a BBQ. You can bring up to three pets.
