The Old Schoolhouse is about three miles outside Portpatrick, on the coast. It's a detached place, which means you get your own peace and quiet. It sits in about three acres of garden, so there's plenty of space for kids to run about or to just sit outside.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, but it's an old building. It was a family home for years, so it's got character. Some of the rooms have an odd shape, and you'll hear the odd creak. That's just how it is.
Inside, there's an open plan living area with a wood burning stove. It's good for getting the heat going on a chilly evening. There's a TV, WiFi, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them.
Outside, there's a patio and garden furniture, and a barbecue. You can park right there at the house. We accept up to three pets.
Portpatrick village is where you'll find shops, a couple of restaurants, and a nice little harbour. The nearest beach is about four and a half miles away.
If you like walking, the area is excellent. You can do anything from a gentle stroll along the coast to a proper hike. The coastline is stunning, with cliffs and coves. You might see red squirrels or deer if you're lucky.
For a day out, the RSPB Mull of Galloway centre is worth a trip for the seabirds. There are a couple of golf courses nearby, Dunskey and Lagganmore. Stranraer is a short drive away for bigger supermarkets and other amenities.
