Lightfoot House

Lightfoot House is in Redmire, which is a small village in Wensleydale. It's a mid-terrace cottage, so you'll have neighbours either side. The cottage itself is Grade II listed, so it's got a lot of original features like beams. There's a wood burner in the inglenook fireplace.

It sleeps four people in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's been well modernised inside. It has things like a dishwasher and wifi. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase.

The local pub is about a two minute walk from the front door. For a shop or a restaurant, you'd need to drive to Leyburn, which is about five miles away.

You're right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. You can start walks straight from the cottage. A popular one is the circular walk from Redmire to Aysgarth Falls, which takes in the smaller Redmire Falls too. It's a good afternoon out.

Bolton Castle is basically in the village. You can walk to it. Middleham Castle is a short drive away. Middleham is where a lot of the racing stables are, so you often see racehorses being walked through the town.

For a different kind of day out, The Forbidden Corner is about ten minutes by car. It's a sort of ornamental garden full of follies and tunnels. You need to book ahead.

In terms of facilities, it's got most things you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, TV, wifi. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a highchair and a stairgate stored there if you need them.
