This is Clarksville, in Leyburn. It's right in the middle of the town. The building is a Georgian terrace, so it's stone-built and spread over three floors. It feels solid. You get an enclosed garden at the back, which is handy if you're bringing a dog.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean. The stairs are fairly typical for a place this age, so they're a bit steeper than a modern house.
You're about a hundred yards from the shops and pubs in Leyburn. There's a weekly market. For a proper walk, you can start from the door and be on the footpaths into the Dales quite quickly. Aysgarth Falls is a classic visit, about a ten minute drive. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site has good maps.
Hardraw Force is about twenty minutes away if you want to see the waterfall. Middleham is just down the road, famous for the castle and the racehorses. The Wensleydale Railway runs from nearby Leeming Bar up to Redmire, which is a relaxed way to see the valley.
The Forbidden Corner, that unusual garden with follies, is in Coverdale, maybe a fifteen minute drive. Richmond is about eleven miles if you want a bigger town with a proper castle and the river.
In terms of what's here, there's a washing machine, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's bike storage. One well-behaved dog is allowed. The parking is on-street, but we've never had an issue finding a space close by.
